Shoes...boots...moccasins...clogs...whatever you want to call them when they are on your feet, Yogi's rubber-soled shoes are set to become a real footwear favourite again just like they were in the 90's.
The 90's you say? You didn't know they'd been around that long? Availability in the UK has always been sparse, so we will forgive you.
But with some super Spring options incoming from Yogi anytime soon, we are going to give you all the information you need to know about the brand...
From what we can gather Yogi Footwear started life in Europe. Heavily connected to the once-popular British label Duffer of St George - who at the time were buying deadstock shoes from Cyprus and Poland - they then discovered a gap in the market through Earth Shoes.
Earth Shoes were, and still are, all about the negative sole; a thinner sole at the heel that gives the shoe a unique aesthetic, which is also better for your posture. This distinctive design is used on the enter Yogi collection to date.
Knowing they were on to something special, the guys at Duffer wasted no time in trialing Earth Shoes in their stores...every single pair sold out almost immediately.
With Earth Shoes as their inspiration, the top guys from Duffer went off to Portugal to design their own collection, not long after they had over 200 different samples and they decided the brand needed a separate name...
Marco Cairns, Artistic Director of Yogi, claims, “we didn’t want to call it Duffer of St George Footwear. It had to be something by Duffer or something that sounded like a brand in its own right”.
And that is when the legendary Yogi brand was born.
